This project consisted of developing a font for our personal use, and then after that creating something with the font. It could be a series of postcards, posters or animation to showcase the font. For mine, I chose a series of postcards to display my new font "Lefty" The font is based on my personal writing style and how I've had to learn to manipulate my hand so I could prevent my work from smudging.

For the final execution of my font, I decided to make a series of postcards. The series of postcards are used as a device to write letters to yourself in times of hardship and doubt. Especially now, with everyone being stressed about the current COVID-19 pandemic.
I felt like creating something that people could use to de-stress and think positively about the future. The front of my postcards feature my font spray-painted on the front, splashed with different colors of paint, which is majorly influenced by graffiti.
No matter how many postcards I made, none of them would be the exact same. My overall experience of designing my own font was a positive one and I deeply value the knowledge that I’ve gained from doing it. I better understand the work that goes into making a font and why it's so difficult. There’s a whole system and series of ideas that are needed in order to make a successful font.
I think the postcards I have designed can be used for many different situations. Whether someone is feeling lost or struggling it can help them look forward and see the positives in their future such as seeing their friends again, going out to eat, or going to a concert. Below is a mockup of my final type specimen
